Kaerwyn is of course a text based RP, and we use Internet Relay Chat (IRC) for it.  IRC is fairly simple, and easy to learn. Hell, it's been around since 1988 and it's still the most popular form of text based chatting.  There are several different IRC Clients available for all the various OSes.

We recommend mIRC.  mIRC is pesterware. They want you to pay for it, but it will run without being registered (You just have to wait for it to give you a button to use it when you start it up).  We recommend paying for it if you intend to use it. It's only $20 and it's great software.

Because most of us use mIRC, we will show you how to set it up. Most IRC clients are similiar.

When you start up mIRC, it will show you the options menu.  We're just going to show you how to connect to Kaerwyn's network.  For information, we have a few servers connected to the same network. If one server doesn't work for you, you can try the others.
